The Knit & Natter Group has continued to be busy over the summer. After once again supplying chickens and bunnies for the Children's Hospice in Birmingham for their Easter fundraising, the ladies then began knitting more of the same, as well as mini Christmas hats and puddings for a local charity called Emmett's Genies. This charity was founded to bring some magic into the lives of children with serious or life-limiting conditions. They work with the NHS, Hospice and charity partners to provide boredom relief, grant small wishes and provide memory-making, quality experiences.
Over the weekend 9/10 September, Emmett's Genies are holding a special "Year in a Day Party" for critically ill children. From noon on the Saturday to noon on Sunday, they will celebrate Valentines, Easter, Summer, Halloween, Guy Fawkes and Christmas. We have raised money through raffles and donations towards some of the items needed for the Party, and a number of our group knitted woolly hats for the children to wear when undergoing their treatment.

2022 has been another busy year for the Knit & Natter Group. We again provided the Neo-Natal Unit at Stoke Mandeville with lots of blankets, bonnets, bonding squares and cannula covers for the premature babies, as well as a knitting and crocheting a large number of poppies for the British Legion, which raised over £600 for the charity. In addition, we donated knitted caps for Innocent Smoothie bottles, which raise money for Age UK, and Easter chickens, which are filled with creme eggs to raise funds for a children's hospice in Birmingham. We've also been busy with knitted items to be sold at the Christmas Fayre in the Square on 10 December. The year came to a festive close last Thursday with an afternoon of Christmas-themed games, mince pies, shortbread and fruit cake.
